TA: City defender Nathan Ake out for 10-11 weeks with foot injury

The defender of Manchester City Nathan Ake is excluded for 10 to 11 weeks because of his left foot injury.

Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed the news in his press conference before the match prior to the Premier League trip from City to Nottingham Forest.

On Monday, Ake posted a photo of himself with his left foot in a cast on Monday and said that he had undergone “successful operation on a (foot) break” that “had forgotten for months (him)”. Ake was withdrawn from the FA Cup FA Cup fifth round on Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, after he seemed to struggle with an injury.

“10-11 weeks (he will be gone) they said to me,” Guardiola said on Friday. “If you undergo surgery, it is because something wrong has happened. It is important that it is done. He has had trouble.”

This season, Ake is limited to only 18 performances in all competitions and has several injuries during the campaign. This foot injury means that he will also miss the Nations League of Nations League against Spain later this month, which was mentioned in Ronald Koeman's provisional team last week.

The Instagram post of the 30-year-old was: “This has been such a frustrating season for me, but I have now had a successful operation on a break in my foot that has been bothering me for months and I am positively looking for the future!

“Rest and recovery now, goodbye to city and thanks for your support.”

The absence of Ake contributes to the city's injury in the defense, where John Stones and Manuel Akanji are not expected to return to about the end of April.

City has, however, strengthened their defensive ranks in the winter transfer window with the signing sessions of Centrum-Backs Abdukodir Khusanov van Lens and Vorror Reis from Palmeiras. Khusanov, 21, has already made four Premier League-Start and one in the Champions League, as well as as a replacement in the FA Cup, while Reis, 19, started in the fourth and fifth round tires of the city in that competition.

After the trip to the city area host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on 15 March prior to the international break.
