Jamie Carragher is insisting on Liverpool to get a magazine from Chelsea's book by taking advantage of the supervision of Manchester City.
With the future of Mohamed Salah who is in the balance, Liverpool sees attacking reinforcements on and Carragher says that he would see “love” to see that Aston Villas Morgan Rogers struggles his things on Anfield. The former Stadsjonger exploded this season on stage, with 12 goals and six assists in all competitions.
His impact since he came to Villa from Middlesbrough a year ago, has been considerable and threw his departure from Etihad Stadium into an even more astonishing light. Rogers hardly had any opportunities in the city and was only introduced in 2023 after he had not obtained a place in the senior team.
His route reflects that from Cole Palmer, who left the city for Chelsea that same summer and quickly settled as one of Europe's best attacking talents.
The ruling Prime Minister League champions have had to deal with criticism because they let such promising players slip through their fingers so easily, and while city manager Pep Guardiola defended the club's decision to sell, he recently admitted that he would enjoy Rogers in his team.
“Everyone knows how good Morgan is,” said the Spaniard in December. “In the situation in which we are now, these kinds of players would of course be with us.
“This is clear. [But] I am happy for him because he is a sweet guy. He exploded last season and this season he is a real, real top player. England still has an exceptional player. “
Carragher is also impressed by the English international and told his colleagues on the stick to the football podcast: “I will tell you what that Rogers is a good player, right? You know what, I would love him for Liverpool, oh he is a good player, right?”
Chelsea faltered Palmer for £ 42 million, and Liverpool may have to make up quite a bit more to secure Rogers, given his great form. Before Palmer left City, he was considered damageable, and although his talent and potential were clear, he had not really proven himself at the highest level.
Rogers, on the other hand, is neither inviolable nor unproven, which suggests that every attempt to persuade Villa to separate a good sum of money with their star. But even if Liverpool signs him, he will fit him in the first team of Arne Slot, easier said than done.
The 22-year-old is versatile and has played this season under Unai Emery on both wings and attacking midfielder. But if Salah is staying in Liverpool, it is difficult to get minutes on the right flank.
Moreover, Dominik Szoboszlai has become a staple on the no. 10 place since lock it took over, and the competition for places on the left is fierce, with Luis Diaz, Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota all fighting for the place. The Reds can also strengthen their team with extra reinforcements, with Nico Williams and Anthony Gordon both on their way to Merseyside.
That said, having power in depth is of vital importance for every club with elevated ambitions such as Liverpool, and as Morgan has shown this season – even with people like Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio and Leon Bailey all for the same positions he is – will not stop him.
