UFC lightweight contender breaks down as he reveals why he shockingly retired following UFC 313 loss

“I was already entertaining the thought, you know, with retirement after UFC 300, I took a little free time, but continued to train, I tried to get my mind well and just concentrate on my mental health,” Turner explained to Aaron Bronsteter as he broke out in tears.

“It is difficult man, fighting is difficult, I even do it for 12 years and you have to be all in it or not and are in it tonight, I was not all in it, I thought I would be.

“The decision to stay or not was honestly based on this fight for me … I have thought about this in the last 11 months if I keep fighting or not … My children are getting older, I don't want to continue to take on damage, training camps are difficult, life has taken his toll,” he went on.

Turner's retirement is not only a huge shock because of the fact that he is only 29 years old, but because he was once considered a dark horse in the 155LB division.

Because of his huge 6'3 ″ frame at lightweight, he was an extremely heavy puzzle to crack for several of the opponents he encountered during his seven -year term.

A Five Fight Win -Streak where he finished all the fights in the first two rounds, saw him enter the top 10 at lightweight and he was considered a dark horse because of his unique style.

Although Turner is not sure what will come in his life, he would like to stay close to the UFC, possibly looking for commentary performances.
