Chelsea is preparing for a summer transfer attack on highly rated Spain U21 International Yeremay Hernandez.
The blues have registered a strong interest in the talented 22-year-old winger, who this season has been in an excellent club form for Deportivo La Coruna, with the Chelsea Link that extends until 2024.
Chelsea pushed hard to close a deal in the last days of the January transfer window, but their efforts were eventually rejected by the Galicians.
The final transfer offer that was submitted by Chelsea was in the region of € 15 million, but Deportivo was determined to keep € 20 million out, which is its full release clause.
As time at the beginning of 2025 sustained, rumors also indicated that the player himself would have rejected any progress, even if the clause was activated because he wanted to stay in place until the end of the season.
The primary reason behind his decision was to try the urge from Deportivo to La Liga Promotion of the Segunda Division in 2025.
Hernandez has already scored nine league goals and placed on four assists, with Deportivo currently 11th in the table, and only 12 league games left to play in the regular season.
However, the play-off set-up is complex, with the top two that automatically qualifies for promotion and third place to the sixth on the way to the Play-Offs, including two-legged semi-finals and a final in June.
According to reports from Diario AS, Chelsea will not discourage that willing to wait, and Enzo Maresca is ready to make his move if Deportivo fails to return to the top flight.
Deportivo has been on the DIA since their relegation in 2018 – including a spell in the third level – followed by promotions in recent years.
It is a real story of revival of a club that reached the Semi final of the UEFA Champions League in 2004.
