Ange Postecoglou calls on Tottenham fans to help his side ease their nerves in Europe League clash with AZ Alkmaar

Ange Postecoglou urged the supporters of Tottenham to help his team to calm their nerves while trying to save their season against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

Spurs trail 1-0 after the first stage and their season will come down to winning the second stage on Thursday, but the performances have been bad.

The Postecoglou team was cut off during the break before he moaned back from two-down to take a point at home against Bournemouth.

“I can't dictate people how they work on each other a bit,” said Postecoglou. 'But the crowd of AZ certainly helped them and we need our crowd to get behind the boys on Thursday to make it an atmosphere in which we might lose some of that nervousness and fear within our game.

“If we start the game strongly, it will be the place fun and loud, what will help us.”

Tottenham's anxious,-raised start against Bournemouth has put the home crowd on sharply.

“Certainly a chaotic game,” said Postecoglou. 'We added to the chaos and it was a bit inflicted by itself, especially in the first half. We were really careless with our death and that let the game play on the conditions that Bournemouth would like with their transition football.

“So yes chaotic, but on 2-0 it would have been very easy, especially with the atmosphere as it was, for the boys to just get the game away, but to let the honor come to them, they found a way to come back in the game and we got something out of it.”

Heung-Min Son scored the equalizer with a penalty in the 84th minute, but was not satisfied.

“I am still very disappointed,” Son said. 'I am frustrated, I don't get three points. When you play at home, you expect three points. Bournemouth is really a good side, especially this season, excellent, but I feel it is not good enough for us.

“We were sloppy in the first half. If you are Down and your self -confidence a little and you do things that you would not normally do. You want to do extra and you make mistakes, it happens.

“We must be strong. Trust makes a huge difference. And especially after Thursday things are a bit stressed, but you have to stay calm, do the simple things and we come from the tunnel. '
