Inzaghi: Fighting on many fronts an incentive for Inter not a problem

Simone Inzaghi said that Inter must welcome the challenge to navigate by a hectic luminaire list and be proud of it to be successful on all fronts this season.

Inter Take Feyenoord in their Champions League round of 16 second stage on Tuesday, with the Dutch side 2-0 after goals from Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez.

The Inzaghi team is also at the top of the A-Tafel Serie after their 3-2 victory over Monza on Saturday, and are also in the semi-final of Coppa Italia, where they are confronted with Rivals AC Milan.

They accept Atalanta in their last league match before the last international break of the season, before they conclude in March with a home conflict against Udinese.

“The schedule should not be a problem, but a stimulus. We must be proud of what we do; these guys find the energy,” Inzaghi told reporters.

“During this period we missed a number of players, which we have limited in terms of rotation. We played many games.

“This year we had to play the last Champions League group match at the end of January. It was a longer qualifying period.

“It is a fact, but we are proud of what we do and we have to go on. It is a lot of work, but we are proud to do it.”

Inter has won each of their last five home games in the Champions League without giving a goal and held a clean slate in each of the last six.

The last side to keep seven straight clean sheets at home in the competition was Atletico Madrid in April 2015 (seven), while the last Italian side to do this was Juventus in December 2002 (also seven).

But the Inzaghi team has struggled with injuries in recent weeks, whereby the club confirms on Monday that midfielder Piotr Zielinski can be put aside for two months with a muscle injury.

The Italian media also said that the most important score of Inter Martinez and defender Stefan de Vrij could be rested against Feyenoord in preparation for the collision with Atalanta.

This season Martinez yielded six goals in nine Champions League performances, including one in the first stage against Feyenoord last week.

Only Hernan Crespo in 2002-03 (nine), Samuel Eto'o in 2010-11 (eight) and Adriano in 2004-05 (seven) scored more in a single campaign in the competition for Inter, but Inzaghi said he should think of the larger whole.

“I will rotate according to the physical condition of the players. We have some tiredness to evaluate. Lautaro and the free are not trained with us today, but I have a good feeling (about them),” said Inzaghi.

“I will evaluate whether I should use them or not. The usual non -available players are accompanied by Zielinski, who had a big injury at a time when we didn't want. He grew a lot, he helped us. We will wait for him like others.”

However, Inter will be able to call again on the first-choice goalkeeper Yann Sommer, in which Inzaghi confirmed that the former Switzerland International had recovered from a thumb fracture and against Feyenoord.

“He is a keeper who has been with us here for a year and a half; at that time he did great things,” said Inzaghi.
