Sir Jim Ratcliffe interview: Ten takeaways from ‘grumpy’ Sir Alex Ferguson meeting, Man Utd squad blast & Amorim verdict

Sir Jim Ratcliffe imposed the enormous problems with Manchester United on Monday in a series of Bombshell interviews.

The Ineos Chief, who bought a minority share in the club just over a year ago, appealed to a series of subjects.

These include the shocking performance on the field, the unpopular decisions he has made with regard to cost -saving and the errors that have been made since his arrival.

We looked at ten of the most important collection restaurants of the frank set interviews from Ratcliffe.

Team 'not good enough'

Ratcliffe, 70, made it clear in non -secure terms that he does not think that the current play team is aware.

The British billionaire said: “Some are not good enough and some have probably been paid too much, but for us to form the team we are fully responsible and are responsible, will take time.”

He mentioned five players – Antony, Andre Onana, Casemiro, Rasmiro Hojlund and Jadon Sancho – who “had to buy” his team when he invested in the club because of the important reimbursements and wages that were splashed on these stars.

The enormous reimbursements that are paid for worse returns are one of the driving forces of United in the mess in which it is located.

Ratcliffe, however, believed that progress was slowly taking place with summer signing sessions such as Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt.

He added that “fantastic” stars such as Bruno Fernandes would be needed to come from this dark period.

Without getting up in cash at Christmas

Man Utd has a huge money problem. That is a fact that is well documented and in the public record.

However, the seriousness of the question of years of negligence among the ownership of majority owners, the glazers, was exposed by Ratcliffe with a stunning claim that the club had contracted with Christmas without drastic cost -saving measures.

He said to the BBC: “The simple answer is that the club no longer has money for Christmas if we don't do those things,” before adding it to De Telegraaf: “The (United) goes for Christmas (without change).”

The claim from United that ceases to exist is a bit wide of the truth, although the remark about the lack of cash is true, with Ratcliffe in which since the arrival yields $ 300 million (£ 232.72 million), leaving the club £ 74 million in cash.

What he thinks of Ruben Amorim

In the midst of the series of problems in United, Ratcliffe does not believe that Ruben Amorim is one of them and he insists that he will be “for a long time” at Man Utd.

United is 14th in the Premier League under the former Sporting Lisbon with his arrival in November, not the increase in the form that many had hoped.

Ratcliffe said about the 40-year-old: “I think Ruben is an excellent young manager. I really do that. He is an excellent manager and I think he will be there for a long time.

“You start to see a glimpse of what Ruben can produce. Ruben does a super work …

“He is, like most big coaches, being an emotional character. Ruben is not perfect, but I am a great supporter of Ruben.”

Ratcliffe also revealed that Amorim is no-pushover and is willing to tell him “take off” when they meet.

Meeting with Fergie

One of the most controversial decisions since the arrival of Ratcliffe was the end of a multi-million pound obligation to Sir Alex Ferguson, of which Ratcliffe said that Fergie left “Grumpy” in the beginning.

He said: “I sat down with (sir) Alex, only we two in the room and I said: 'Look, the club is not where you think it's.

“It spends more than earning and we will end with problems. To be honest, we can't really afford to keep paying your £ 2 million a year”.

“I said I'm going to leave it with you, let you think about it”. It was very mature.

“Maybe a bit grumpy in the beginning, but he got it, and he came back three days later, after he spoke with his son, and said,” Good, I'm going to get off. My decision “.

“I think it is very well reflected in Alex, because he has set the club for himself.”

How much club is still owed on transfers

Ratcliffe revealed on the overlap that Man Utd would sign a £ 89 million check for players' transfers this summer, even if they did not sign any player.

He regretted huge reimbursements that were still due for large investments in players before he arrived, including making an example of a payment of £ 17 million that still needs to be made for Sancho in the summer.

Indeed, the five names he explicitly mentioned have combined transfer costs of more than £ 300 million.

He said: “These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we have inherited those things and have to figure it out.”

The stunning reimbursements that owe transfers are one of the main reasons why the club loses money on year on year, with savage cost -saving decisions that are made.

Free Lunches Cut

The series of cost savings made at Man Utd since Ineos arrived, in particular has included the removal of free lunches for staff.

His philosophy of “you take care of the money, the pounds where you can suck out” can where sound in other forms of things, but with a financial juggernaut as a man utd it seems a bit extreme.

Ratcliffe said: “At Ineos we run a lean organization. As my mother said, you take care of the money, the pounds take care of themselves.

“We can sound Flippant about free lunches, but if you give all these benefits, first -class train rates, free taxis, it is not coherent. It's bust at Christmas.”

Uncomfortable chat with Neville more than £ 40k cut for ex-players

Probably the most damn show of Ratcliffe in the interview, he was visibly uncomfortable when discussing the £ 40,000 donation to the former players' association with Gary Neville on the overlap.

Neville asked why, if the club could not pay the payment, they had not agreed that a large star like Fernandes or Harry Maguire had a fundraising dinner for the organization.

Just like a scene outside the office, Ratcliffe replied by saying that nobody had thought about it, but he would have supported it and would reconsider the decision in the future.

Neville replied by saying that “alerting” him, and it was the most damn reflection of the new management team at United so far.

Body Language Consultant – 'Bugbear' from Ratcliffe

While Ratcliffe has taken some anti -aircraft guns for the brutal cost savings made since his arrival at United, in some cases he believes that those decisions are more than worth what they consider unnecessary roles.

During his interview, he emphasized that the club had a “body language consultant” at £ 175,000 a year, almost spot the suggestion that such a role could be useful.

Conducted from ten hag and ashworth error

For all cost -saving Ratcliffe and his team have done it since then, the very expensive “mistakes” have also taken the decisions to take in Ashworth and also to keep Erik ten Hag.

The decisions to dismiss the couple and then take in Amorim cost around £ 20 million – which is a lot of free lunches – although he insisted that those decisions were made before the entire management team was present.

Ratcliffe said: “I agree that the decisions of the Erik Ten Tag and then Ashworth were mistakes.

“I think there were some mitigating circumstances, but in the end they were mistakes. I accept that and my apologies for that.

“If you look at the moment we made the decision about Erik, the management team would have been in place for more than five minutes.

“It became clearer three months later and we were wrong, but we had gone further. I think we corrected it and we are in a completely different place today.”

Rashford judgment

Marcus Rashford's omission from the man Utd Squad by Amorim before his loan transfer to Aston Villa in January was a real main rag breed.

It was made even worse, given the struggle of United in the last third part and the fact that Rashford has already managed three assists in villa colors.

Although Ratcliffe said he was “satisfied”, the man of the man Utd Academy was well on loan, he repeated that Amorim had his full support about squadron shops, referring to a need for all players to give 100 percent.

He said: “He (Amorim) wants a dressing room that is full of people who are fully committed to winning football matches.

“He will not tolerate people who do not have 100% of that position. The players must be in the same box.”

On Rashford himself he added: “He moved from Manchester and maybe that's a good thing for him.

“I am very happy that he is doing well. It is good to see because he has enormous talent, but for whatever reason it has not worked in Manchester in recent seasons.

“But he is a very talented football player, Rashford.”

Ratcliffe also suggested that the future of Rashford from the summer of summer would be, with the sale of the attackers to be part of the budget to help Amorim redecorate his team.
