The head of the sports medicine of Manchester United Gary O'Driscoll leaves the club in work after just 18 months, it has emerged.
Senior doctor of the first team for men Jim Moxon also stopped after two years at United to make a chance to make a chance.
Club sources, however, say that the double departure is a coincidence and is not connected to the last round of a maximum of 200 fired.
The exit of O'Driscoll is a big surprise after he left Arsenal after 14 years to join United in September 2023 and was described as 'one of the most experienced and respected leaders in sports medicine'.
Sources say that he has decided that it is now the right time to resign, after he has driven a series of positive changes in the medical department and laid the foundation for further improvements.
They say that the departure of O'Driscoll and Moxon are not connected to the fact that the United Squad has sustained more than 60 cases of injuries and illness last season or that head coach Ruben Amorim is currently without 10 players and has not been able to fill the bank in recent competitions.
Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo will probably be out for the rest of the season, while Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Harry Magire, Altay Bayindir and Jonny Evans are also put aside.
It is understood that the two doctors will remain in their role during a transition period to ensure that there is no interruption in medical support for the players, while United is launching a search for replacements.
