Isco set for Spain snub as De la Fuente also expected to overlook in-form keeper

This Friday head coach Luis de la Fuente of Spain will mention his team for the upcoming quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands. La Roja are favorites to continue their aim to defend the title they won in 2023, although there are many doubts about their team, which will be considerable other than the one who won Euro 2024 last summer.

De la Fuente is still without the services of Dani Carvajal and Rodri Hernandez, who are out for the rest of the season after ACL injuries. Moreover, Dani Vivian will miss last week after stopping a hamstring problem, while another important central defender who will be absent is Aymeric Laporte, which is also excluded due to injury.

These absences have caused the defense problems, especially when account is that earlier call-ups Robin Le Normand and Aitor Paredes have struggled for shape in recent months. As such, there are considerable opportunities for people like Real Madrid -young Raul Asencio and AFC Bournemouth Starlet Dean Huijsen, while Pau Cubarsi of Barcelona is a certainty to be called up by De La Fuente.

In other areas there are also doubts, although they have been created by the strong performance of players who have not been in the Spain setup. Joan Garcia is in spectacular form for Espanyol this season and he is tipped to earn his first senior call-up, although Relevanto says he will miss the La Fuente who retains his usual trio of Unai Simon, David Raya and Alex Remiro.

Another in-shape player with opportunities for a call-up is Isco, who has returned in a fine style of a broken leg. He is desperate to have his La Roja return, but according to another Relo report, he is expected to be split off because De La Fuente is planning to count on younger players in midfield.
