Mbappe sits out part of Madrid training ahead of Atletico second leg

Carlo Ancelotti avoided questions about Kylian Mbappe's participation in the Champions League last 16 second -stage from Real Madrid with Rivals Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Mbappe, who scored 28 goals this season in all competitions, missed the majority of Real's team training on Tuesday because of muscle discomfort, said club sources.

The Frenchman participated in some individual work, in which club officials said he came to the group with his teammates during the last 30 minutes of training.

Los Blancos also said that his availability for their collision with Diego Simeone's side, which they lead 2-1 from the first stage, was not in danger.

Mbappe's fitness has been an important question mark since he missed their Copa del Rey Clash at Real Sociedad two weeks ago after he had removed a tooth.

Since then he has produced matte performance in three consecutive games and only scored once while he was replaced in two of those competitions.

Madrid is advanced from 21 of their last 22 Champions League tires when they won the first stage, with the exception of Ajax in the last 16 in 2018-19.

Under Ancelotti they are advanced from nine out of nine, and the real head coach said his team is ready for the second stage, whether they have Mbappe available or not.

“I have more than eleven players for this game. Those who do not play will also contribute in some form. A well -made change can make a difference,” said Ancelotti.

“A derby is always a very close game. Sometimes we win and sometimes they win. Tomorrow it will be the same.

“It will be determined by small details. That is what will happen tomorrow.

“The goal is that we want to play in the quarterfinals, who our players are. Rehearsing punishment is difficult, but we are not thinking about that at the moment.
