Floyd Mayweather landed 15-punch combination to KO Conor McGregor in blockbuster ‘Money Fight’

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor teamed up in 2017 for one of the most lucrative combat sports events of all time.

The pair engaged in a fiery build-up, throwing insults at each other, before crashing into each other on the biggest stage of them all at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

Conor McGregor, of course, made his professional boxing debut, while Floyd Mayweather was in the 50th fight of his glittering career.

Nevertheless, the UFC legend's combativeness against his more seasoned opponent made for a compelling promotion, with the world's biggest stars all on hand for the one-sided showdown.

Floyd Mayweather stops Conor McGregor with 15-punch combination

Before facing McGregor, Mayweather had already cemented his greatness as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of all time.

With victories over Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Canelo Alvarez, among others, the American had little left to prove.

But even after all the accolades he has amassed, the flashy slickster couldn't help but seize a golden opportunity to teach McGregor a hard lesson.

And so, while the MMA fighter got off to a good start in the early rounds, it was only a matter of time before Mayweather took control of the match with his superior skills and experience.

But while McGregor made it to the championship rounds, he could barely stay on his feet after expending all his energy in the first few rounds.

And then, with no real incentive to drag out the fight any longer, Mayweather unleashed a blistering 15-punch combination to stun 'The Notorious One'.

Shortly afterwards, the referee stopped the fight in the tenth round, with the multi-weight world champion securing his 50th professional victory while remaining undefeated.

How much money did Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor make?

Needless to say, both fighters were paid handsomely for their wildly different performances, with McGregor taking home $100 million and Mayweather taking the lion's share of $300 million.

Their buzz also generated the second-highest number of pay-per-view sales of all time – 4.3 million – in the US, just behind Mayweather's historic fight with Manny Pacquiao, which set the record at 4.6 million.
