Holiday Resort Butlin's have mocked Manchester United after the Premier League club had unveiled the design of their new ultramodern stadium on Tuesday.
The unique design, which was prepared by the famous British architect Lord Norman Foster, places the new stadium in an 'umbrella' canopy made of glass and steel, with three gigantic towers that pay tribute to the trident of the Red Devils and dominates the skyline of Manchester.
The impressive canopy, which is designed to let supporters dry both inside and outside the stadium, will make the new location of Manchester United the largest covered space in the world, convinced that they can complete the £ 2 billion project in just five years.
Butlins sent United on Tuesday a humorous message on social media after the unveiling, where the club was mocked by claiming that the design 'looked a bit known'.
Butlins, which are located in Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness, is known for having a huge, white tent structure in each of their resorts – in a style comparison with that of the new Stadium of Manchester United.
'Looks great (and a bit known) for us! #Oldtrafford #readytobutlins, “said the British company on social media platform X.
A photo of Butlin's white tent posted a fan: “Sorry United, Minehead did it first.”
Another posted: “Man Utd is so in debt that they went to Butlin for architectural design ideas.”
A third, accompanying their post with an abundance of smiling emojis, added: “Who else thinks the new stadium design of Manchester United is similar to Minehead Butlins?”
A group of man from Man United also went to social media to express their disappointment over the ground that looks like a circus tent.
“FFS looks like a circus,” wrote one, with the required emoji of a big top.
“Looks terrible. Looks like a circus for the clowns that are going to play in it, “said another.
“Haha Circus Tent,” wrote one football fan, before the other seemed to send a Barb to the unpopular Glazer family co-owners: “Glazers are really building a circus tent for the clowns they are.”
Speaking of the new Stadium design of United, Lord Foster – founder and executive chairman of Foster + Partners – said: 'This must be one of the most exciting projects in the world, with incredible regional and national significance.
'It all starts with the experience of the fans, which means they get closer than ever to the field and a huge brell of acoustic cultivation.
'The stadium is contained by a huge umbrella, harvested energy and rainwater and protecting a new public square that is twice as large as the Trafalgar Square.
'The outward -looking stadium will be the beating heart of a new sustainable district, which is fully walkable, operated by public transport and endowed by nature.
“It is a miniature city of the future for mixed use-a new wave of growth and creating a global destination that Mancunians can be proud of.”
In the meantime, Sir Jim Ratcliffe of the United States said: 'Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the past 115 years.
'But it has fallen behind the best arenas in world sport. By building in addition to the existing site, we will be able to maintain the essence of Old Trafford, while we create a real state-of-the-art stadium that the fan experience only transforms footsteps from our historic house. '
