Andrea Berta is ready to try to bring Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal this summer as part of a over -midfield with two controversial stars that are ready to continue.
The Gunners have identified Berta, formerly from Atletico Madrid, as their top choice to follow Edu as a sports director after the Brazilian has chosen to leave his position earlier in the season.
Berta will be given the task of identifying and signing the players who are able to transform Arsenal of title candidates into champions. And although the suggestion is that the club will give priority to signing a new striker in the transfer window, it seems that other plans are also underway.
It appeared in January that Martin Zubimendi is in line to become a member of Arsenal – but he could still be accompanied by guimaraes.
As revealed by AS for the first time, Berta is a long-term admirer of Guimaraes and tried to sign the Newcastle midfielder three times before. And with Jorginho and Thomas Partey both out of contract and planned to leave, he will make another game for the Brazilian.
Guimaraes is known as Happy in Newcastle, where he has become a favorite for the past two and a half months. However, it is said that he would be open to a change of environment.
The report also claims that the player and Newcastle have an agreement that he can leave in the summer for a fee of £ 60 million if the Magpies are not eligible for the Champions League.
If Arsenal would sign both guimaraes and Zubimendi in the summer, Mikel Arteta would have a wealth of options to choose from in the engine room with Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Mikel Merino all in the books. Mylyes Lewis-Skelley is also expected to be used as a midfielder in the long term, despite the fact that he makes an impression on a full-back.
Arsenal is also interested in the teammate of Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, because they focus on a productive NR .9 to increase their title hopes.
Despite the admiration of Berta for Guimaraes, it is said that Arsenal would give priority to a movement for the Swede if he would become available. However, Newcastle has made it clear that they do not want to sell their top assets and are planning to hold contract discussions with Isak at the end of the season.
