‘Must be an idiot’… Paddy Pimblett baffled by Dustin Poirier’s decision to retire

'The Baddy' wants to expand his winning series in the UFC to seven when he returns to UFC 314 next month.

Paddy Pimblett already has a three-man Hitlist because he knows that a victory over Michael Chandler will place him in the mix at 155 pounds.

Although Dustin Poirier has claimed that he focuses on 'only legends' for his pension fight, Pimblett has shown interest in the matchup.

'The Diamond' wants to ride the sunset by giving the fans a last spectacle later this year.

The former interim light weight champion has not only said that he is not interested in fighting the British, Poirier believes that Chandler Pimblett will beat in the Kaseya Center in Miami.

Paddy Pimblett says he doesn't understand why Dustin Poirier is retiring

In a recent interview with Papá Legaspi, Paddy Pimblett again mentioned Dustin Poirier as a potential opponent for his next fight after Michael Chandler.

The conversation came back on 'The Diamond' focused on a final dance before hung up the gloves, but 'The Baddy' is not sure why.

If Poirier chose to stay around for a little longer, this can remove his clause 'only legends' with the future Hall of Famer who still wants an inheritance fight to be remembered.

By arguing for why Poirier would have to continue to fight a little longer, Pimblett referred to his fight with the lightweight champion Islam Makhachev on UFC 302, where he even gave a very good report of himself in the defeat.

The 40-Fight veteran considered retirement after the loss before he decided that he wanted to produce a good shipment, hopefully for his home fans in Louisiana.

“He said something about me recently, right? Saying it is only legends and he thinks Chandler will beat me like that. I think he should have more than one fight, he looked good in his last fight. I don't understand why you retire if you look good, but you know, he must be an idiot. But yes, I think I defeated Dustin Poirier, so I would like to fight him. ”

Paddy Pimblett has other options for lightweight if he beats Michael Chandler

If Paddy Pimblett gets his hand against Michael Chandler on UFC 314, he will focus on the top of the division to secure a title shot.

In that sense, one of the biggest and best names would be logical for him, whether it is Poirier or Charles Oliveira about whom he has already spoken.

Ilia Topuria is another name that 'The Baddy' has soon shown interest to fight now 'El Matador' has switched to lightweight where he has history with Pimblett.

Justin Gaethje and Arman Tsarukyan can be other options, depending on what is going on in the coming weeks and months at 155 pounds.
