Keira Walsh is completely focused on winning her first trophy with Chelsea prior to the final on Saturday of Saturday against former team Manchester City.
The midfielder of England represented City, her youth club, for eight years. However, Walsh will set aside personal links on Sunday.
Walsh said: “I am now a Chelsea player and I love being here and I want to do everything I can to help win this team. As soon as you exceed that white line, nothing is really important than winning Chelsea.”
Walsh first came to City in 2014 and played under the new interim boss Nick Cushing, who follows the resignation of Gareth Taylor earlier this week.
During this time Walsh City helped to win the WSL in 2016, as well as three FA Cups and four competition cups. The 27-year-old then joined Chelsea after having spent two and a half years in Barcelona and believes that they can do that with the four-fold.
“The team is clearly incredible here, it is clearly very competitive. But you also have to express respect to the teams in Europe and the teams that are in the competition. Although I think we can do it and we can compete, it will be difficult,” Walsh added.
“This is the first to take on, so I think we can show our intention for the rest of the season when we go on a strong front. We definitely want to bring that trophy back to London.”
'They are beatable' – Blindkilde self -confident in the opportunities of the city
Manchester City -midfielder Laura Blindilde Brown is still in for Saturday's luminaire despite the recent resignation of Taylor.
“I think it is always difficult to change managers just before a huge game,” Blindilde said. “But I think Nick has a great experience of silverware. He likes to play a lot, takes risks, something that is really suitable for many of the girls.”
Chelsea is unbeaten this season in all competitions and has won all the matches except for two. City is currently 12 points behind the League leaders, but Blindkilde still believes in the team.
Blindkilde said: “It will be a huge challenge, but one that we want to face. I think we are all really ready. They have an incredible team, world -class players, but I absolutely think they are defeated.
“I still think we can be really successful. We are still in the Champions League, have a League Cup final, we are still in the FA Cup and we still want to be eligible for the Champions League next year from the competition.”
“He's up there” – Parris full of praise for Cushing
Former Manchester City Vooruit Nikita Parris believes that Cushing is back where he should be and is one of the best movements for the club.
The Brighton player was part of the Cushing team during his first management run at the club.
“He is probably one of the safest bets that Manchester City could have had on the departure of Gareth Taylor,” Parris told the field podcast. “Nick has been there, did it and he knows the club from the inside.
“I am really happy to see him again in the WSL, I thought it would be in Arsenal if I am honest. But to see him again in Manchester City actually feels good, it feels like that is where he should be, that is his house, his team.
“It's so nice to have him back in women's football. He is a fantastic coach and I can't speak about him anymore. I think he was brilliant for my time in Manchester City and I learned so much from him and I know the girls will be happy with him. Tactically he is up there.”
England International Jordan Nobbs added: “I only heard good things, especially with his coaching and his tactics. I mean, he didn't win trophies in City.
“He knows the club, he will probably be working on it to know almost many things that are going on and his tactical side just sting it that I think is clearly very good.”
