Liverpool and Real Madrid to discuss TA move over lunch ahead of UCL clash
The directors of Liverpool and Real Madrid will have lunch on Merseyside ahead of their Champions League clash, and while that is fairly standard procedure for legal proceedings in Spain, the subject of their meeting will not be. The latest news from the Spanish capital is that they will discuss the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
According to Marca, they will try to clarify what the course of action will be with the English right back. The Madrid-based newspaper insists ad nauseam that relations between the two sides are excellent, saying Liverpool even picked up the phone in September to ask Real Madrid if they were pursuing Alexander-Arnold, which they admitted.
With Alexander-Arnold holding Liverpool back and making no progress on a contract extension, the logical conclusion is that he will move elsewhere from next summer. But during their lunch, which will take place at 1.30pm, Real Madrid will try to establish whether a deal in the January transfer window is possible – something previously thought unlikely.
