Alex Pereira may not have defeated Magomed Ankalaev on UFC 313, but one icon saw enough in his performance to think that he could compete with Jon Jones.
On Saturday evening, in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, US, the Brazilian fell short in his attempt to keep his championship belt.
Pereira, however, remained cheerful, dancing with Chuck Liddell Backstage and is now enthusiastic about his next match-up.
And although a confrontation with 'bones' looks out of the table, at least for the time being, it may not be as dead in the water as fans think.

Chael Sonnen says that Alex Pereira could struggle with Jon Jones
Chael Sonnen was really impressed by the version that Alex Pereira had produced against Magomed Ankalaev.
While the former world champion Glory Kickboxing has not won, 'The American Gangster' believes that the São Paulo Brawler undoubtedly proved that he knows how to struggle, make a collision with the UFC heavyweight king, much more attractive.
In a video that was uploaded to his YouTube, the former World Title Challenger said: “You will not come not far when you start talking about Alex Pereira vs Jones. You just don't get there because we know that Jon can throw him down and beat him up.
“Like, that is something that Jon really does well. He can throw people down and then beat them up.
“Well, you look at this fight, and you go:” Hey, it turns out that the old Alex Pereira is not so easy to beat. ” Alex Pereira really showed some things. That whole story that he cannot struggle and he cannot defend, has now disappeared. “
Alex Pereira shocked Daniel Cormier with his wrestling for UFC 313
While Pereira would have worked on his struggle during the training camp, he had to fully exhibit his skills when Daniel Cormier tried to get him down.
It has almost become a tradition that will shoot 'DC' for a single leg when he sees 'Patan' in the flesh.
That is why it was no surprise that the American hit the legend when he pointed his eyes to him.
Cormier, however, received an almighty surprise with what happened when he grabbed Pereira.
