
Brazil has called Teenage Real Madrid -striker Endrick to replace the injured Neymar for the qualifications of this month of World Cup.
Santos Forward Neymar would come back to the Brazilian team for the first time since he sustained a serious knee injury in international duty at the end of 2023.
However, the 33-year-old is excluded from the qualifications of the World Cup of Selecao against Colombia and Argentina after maintaining a muscle issue.
Coach Dorival Junior has also called on Flamengo defender Alex Sandro to replace Danilo, and Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri as a replacement for Ederson of Manchester City.
“In the past few days, the medical department of the Brazilian national team has updated us about the situation of all players, especially Danilo, Neymar and Orgererson,” said Dorival Junior in a CBF statement.
“After the assessments, the medical department of the national team updated us about the situation of each player.
“So we call Lucas Perri from Lyon, Alex Sandro from Flamengo and Endrick from Real Madrid.”
This season Endrick played only 496 minutes in all competitions for Madrid and is struggling for regular Gametime since his move from Palmeiras, although he has scored six goals.
Brazil, who are fifth in the Conmebol classification with 18 points from 12 games, organize Colombia on March 21 and visits leaders Argentina five days later.
The top six teams are directly eligible for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
