‘No pressure’ from Barcelona over Wojciech Szczesny contract extension

Wojciech Szczesny is given the space to decide in the coming months about a contract extension from Barcelona.

The former Poland International has endured a tough start of life as the first choice -goalkeeper for Barcelona, but he has started delivering his versions in recent weeks.

Flick made the daring call to retire SZCZISNY in the first half of the campaign after a serious injury to No.1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The first plan was that Szczesny Back -up had been noticed for Inaki Pena as a replacement for Ter Stegen, but the roles were reversed in 2025.

That has put pressure on Pena's relationship with Flick and he can now opt for a contract extension in Catalonia.

Flick, however, has remained pragmatic about the situation, and it insists that the form of Szczesny hardly makes him increase at an important point in the season.

The situation can now force a reconsideration of Szczesny, who was planning to restore his gloves in the summer, but there is now a fixed chance that he will stay in Barcelona for at least 12 months.

Deco and Hansi Flick want Szczesny to sign a contract extension, despite the Drive of Ter Stegen to return because he offers an experienced option in the team.

According to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, conversations have already started extending the bond from SZCZESNY until June 2026, with an offer for its representatives.

The last call will come to the player himself and his potential desire to recover again in 2025, if the conditions are not favorable for a continuation.

No update is expected to at least May, where all parties are fully focused on campaign testing, while Barcelona is fighting for A la Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League Treble in Flick's debut campaign at the helm.
