Hummels apologises to Roma fans: I fu**** up and cost the whole club their dream

Roma was eliminated from the Europa League by Athletic in San Mames, with Hummels sent away early in the first half. The Giallorossi lost the second leg with 3-1 and were eliminated in the round of 16 4-3 on aggregated.

The experienced German went to social media last night to post an apology.

Hummels stated: “I'm sorry Roma. I want to apologize to our fans and my teammates.

“I abandoned everyone today with a mistake that was just stupid and terrible. In the past, these games were the games that my team could trust me, now it is me and I cost the whole club the dream to win the Europa League.

“Don't know what else to say, I'm just as disappointed in me as you all.”
