Fabian Hurzeler believes that Brighton deserved to leave the Etihad stadium as victors, after fighting twice back to draw 2-2 with Manchester City on Saturday.
The six-game extraction streak from Brighton over all competitions came to an end when they played an entertaining draw at the House of the Champions of last season.
Erling Haaland's penalty placed the city ahead of the bow before Pervis Estupinan equalized with a beautiful free kick, after which Omar Marmoush only recovered the advantage of the hosts for his own goal of Abdukodir Khusanov to make it 2-2.
Brighton had the better chances to win the game and complete the game with 15 shots to City's 11 and a total of 2.11 expected goals (XG) to the 1.77 of the hosts.
Yankuba Minth, Kaoru Mitoma, Jack Hinshelwood and Carlos Baleba all missed good chances for Brighton in the second half, because they were made to settle for a point.
They only drive two points from the top four for the trip from Chelsea to Arsenal on Sunday, although fifth place will almost certainly be sufficient for the qualification of the Champions League this campaign.
“We have given away goals in a very cheap way and we have to improve,” Hurzeler told BBC Sport.
“The fact that we came back twice and we had great opportunities to go for the victory is a very positive one. We showed our identity and so we want to play.
“In general, I am happy with the performance, but not happy with the result. It is very clear to me that we have to leave this pitch as the winner. Sometimes, in football, it is true.
“We have to analyze this game, and then we must be disappointed about the draw. We must remain grounded, continue to push each other and continue to push each other.
'This club always works hard. We have a situation with the run after the forest game [a 7-0 loss in early February]. It is because we do the basics well. We have to keep doing it for the rest of the season. “
Brighton remains profitless in their 15 league visits to City (three draws, 12 losses), with this the first time they have avoided the defeat since December 1982 (1-1 on Maine Road).
Full-back Hinshelwood, whose shot forced Khusanov's own goal, said: “If you come to Man City, it is a difficult place to come. They have not been to their best this season, but it is still a difficult place to come.
“The run we are on, we went into every game who believes that we can beat everyone.
“The fans have been incredible. If we can keep this momentum, it will be difficult to stop us.
“Last season we had a taste of what Europe can look like. As a club we drive to return to that feeling.”
After the international break, Brighton is confronted with Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup quarte finals, while City is facing Bournemouth for a semi-final place.
