‘It motivates me’ – Fernandes fuelled by Keane’s United criticism

Bruno Fernandes has said that Roy Keane's destructive criticism of his work percentage at Manchester United has motivated him to improve the club.

Fernandes was goaled in the 3-0 win of United over Leicester City in the Premier League, while also offering the assists for the goals of Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

For the ninth time in all competitions for United, Fernandes registered three targeted involvement in a competition, with two of them in his last two games against Leicester and Real Sociedad, just like many examples in his earlier 201 matches combined for the Red Devils.

Indeed, he was about 112 Premier League-target-oriented involvement for United, the 10th most for the club in the top flight, after he had moved above Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Portuguese international also became the sixth player of Red Devils who reached 50 assists in the competition, after Ryan Giggs (162), Wayne Rooney (93), David Beckham (80), Paul Scholes (55) and Eric Cantona (51) (51).

Fernandes has been the striking performer of the Red Devils in a bad season in Old Trafford, who has delivered 16 goals and offers 15 assists for all competitions this season.

But ex-sizing skipper Keane had a furious anger on the stick to football podcast last month when he accused the Red Devil team of cheaters, while he also insisted that “talent is not enough” with regard to Fernandes, criticizing his leadership as a club captain and claimed that he is not a hunter.

Fernandes has since been impressed by Ruben Amorim since those comments and helps United to a 1-1 draw with title Hoopvol Arsenal before following it with a hat trick against Real Sociedad to seal the progression of his team in the Europa League.

“I do things in my own way,” Fernandes told Sky Sports.

“It is clearly not nice to hear those things about you, but at the same time it motivates you and, of course, people think there are many things you need to improve.

“It is clear that not everything I do that everyone will like or will think in the same way and I respect everyone's opinion and I have enormous respect for Roy Keane and I accept that there is a lot of margin for improvement in my game, in my leadership and everything I do in my life.”
