Manchester United has confirmed that their seasonal card prices have risen before 2025/26 despite their latest disastrous campaign.
There will be an increase in prices of five percent for adults, but tickets for under the age of 16 will be frozen to the current amount.
In a club statement, CEO Omar Berrada said: “We appreciate the loyal and patient support of our fans, and in particular our seasonal card holders who represent the core of our match-going support basis.
“We understand the importance of their support for the team and have worked hard to think of a price package that is honest and reasonable.
“After 11 consecutive years of freezing, we have increased the prices by five percent over the past two seasons and we intend to do the same for the following season to compensate for the continued increases in operating costs.
“We understand that every price increase is undesirable, especially during a period of underperformance on the field, and we listened carefully to the strong arguments put forward by the FAB in favor of a freezing.
“However, the club has decided that it would not be good to keep prices unchanged while the costs are rising and the club continues to experience financial problems.”
Berrada, however, added that the club had protected the youngest fans against all rises.
In contrast to it, that approach was shown with regular match tickets that were raised to £ 66 earlier this season without concessions.
There was an initial excitement about the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but price increases and the hundreds of staff have soured the relationship of the Ineos Chief with the Old Trafford Faithful.
Ratcliffe, however, warned last week that there would be an increasing seasonal card prices.
He said to Gary Neville on the overlap: “A little, yes, we will do that [put prices up]. But not much. “
United also announced that Game categorization will be introduced next season for regular competition tickets, with the highest profile competitions that cost more.
And Berrada admitted that the man Utd Fan Advisory Board had not supported the price increases, for a freezing of ticket prices across the board, instead of just U16s.
Fans of Red Devils responded quickly to the announcement, with many links smoking.
A posted: “Shame. Bad season for 50 years and you still have the cheek to increase ticket prices.”
Another wrote: “What about the actual rewarding of loyalty by freezing the ST prices for those who have attended the minimum number of games?”
And a third said: “Terrible ownership decisions, not even surprised that my own club is doing this. Congratulations Man United I will always be a fan, but you have lost a seasonal card holder.”
But a larger number of fans seemed to understand the decision.
They noticed: “A reasonable increase.”
Another wrote: “I expected much worse, did not lie. As a St holder I can live with 5%, it will be interesting to see the details of the match banding for the sale of members, hopefully they will not be stupid money for the top games, but suspect that they can.”
Another remark was: “I think it's funny that the people who never go to games in their lives are those who are indignant about this”
In the meantime, a seasonal card holder told angry supporters that they “really become” and said: “My ticket went from £ 41 per to £ 43.05.
“I prefer it not, but people really have to be.
“We want to compete again at the top of the top, £ 43 to look at 90 minutes of entertainment is not that bad.
“Nowadays you would pay much more for theater or performances.”
And another fan posted: “People start the start that go to the games that I get completely, but people who do youtube content 3 times a day who don't go to the games that start, is just weird.”
And one, referring to the design of the £ 2 billion, joked: “I have to pay somehow for that tent”
