James Rodriguez claims he was better than Kroos and Modric, Xavi AND Zidane

Former Real Madrid Colombia star James Rodriguez believes that his talents from Luke Modric, Toni Kroos, Xavi and even Zinedine Zidane overshadowed.

The daring claim came to the Bombastic Spanish TV program El Chiringuito, where the 33 -year -old – who was currently playing for the Mexican side Leon – was asked his opinion about the big midfielders.

And Rodriguez's answer turned out to be shocking, even for those who are familiar with the show.

Rodriguez was presented one by one the names of the former stars and asked to choose between them and themselves. But on every occasion, the attacking midfielder remained steadfast in his personal conviction.

Although he did some distance when he was asked for Zidane and Xavi. On the first he noticed: “Zidane was very good, at his peak he won the World Cup, but … James.”

In the meantime, the name of the former Barcelona star Xavi was raised, he said, “At the height, James.”

Rodriguez's case is certainly not helped by the fact that he played alongside many of the stars mentioned.

Indeed, he was managed by Zidane during his time in the Bernabeu and failed to find regular minutes behind Kroos and Modric.

The veteran revealed that Zidane has always been his idol and he claimed that he understood why he was not often used by the Frenchman during his supervisor.

“Zidane has always been my idol,” he said. “Sometimes he trained with us and he had more quality than we were. I had nothing against him, I was not upset as people said, but he found a great team that I didn't fit.

“I played with him, but in the important games he would place duckweed, Casemiro and Modric, and that is respectable.”

Rodriguez came to Leon in January after his contract with Laliga side Rayo Vallecano was terminated the entire season after seven performances. Leon has paid a symbolic fee of £ 0.84 million in Madrid, according to athletics.

The Mexican side is the 12th club of his nomadic career. Rodriguez has played for some of the largest clubs in the world, such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but struggled to capture regular minutes and produce his form for Colombia in the club game.

After his sensational world cup 2014 – including one of the best goals in the history of the tournament – he earned a large money movement to Real of Monaco for £ 62 million.

He appeared 125 performances, although only 94 started over a six -year -old Stint in the books in Los Blancos, with a number of loan movements.

Since a somewhat more consistent two years on loan in Bayern Munich between 2017-19, Rodriguez has often moved and with Everton, Qatari side Al-Rayyan, Olympiacos and, Sao Paulo, Rayo Vallecano and now Leon.

Many of those movements have been short -lived and saw contracts torn. He was the best paid player in Everton's history at about £ 220,000 a week and scored six goals in 2020-21 under Carlo Ancelotti.

However, it was in Al-Rayyan that he admitted that he felt 'scared' after he had trouble adapting to the culture.
