Chelsea players, coaches and directors have personally contacted Wesley Fofana to offer their support to the defender after being subjected to racial abuse after the loss of Sunday in Arsenal.
The Premier League club says in a statement that they are 'shocked and disgusting' in the online targeting of their stars, with the 24-year-old Frenchman the last to receive messages on social media.
Chelsea contacts Instagram about the abuse, and that includes asking them to accelerate the removal of the sick messages and said in a statement: 'Chelsea Football Club is shocked and disgusting due to the recent increase in online racial abuse against our players.
'The abuse that Wes Fofana is subject to following yesterday's game is disgusting and will not be tolerated.
'Wes and all our players have our full support. We will collaborate with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators and taking the strongest possible action. '
Chelsea is one of the clubs that collaborate with social media companies to try to eradicate such abuse.
Fofana played back on the right for Chelsea in the 1-0 loss in the Emirates Stadium.
He had collisions with some arsenal players in what was a tough match, including Declan Rice, who accused him of stamping him on him after an error.
