Although Barcelona remains uncertain about what money they should spend this summer, it did not stop that they are being linked to nor move for the top stars of the game. It is said that one of their top goals Liverpool -wing player Luis Diaz, who is with a contract after the Merseyside club.
Liverpool is apparently happy with Diaz and wants to keep him, but still has to reach an agreement through a new contract, with his current deal that will expire in 2027. It means that if Liverpool decided to sell Diaz, this summer would be their last chance to do this before they follow the prospect on the following summer, or would be free in the worst case scenario.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Diaz has a 'concrete opportunity' to leave Liverpool this summer. The Italian transfer journalist explains that Diaz was already the subject of approaches from Saudi Arabia and interest from Manchester City last summer. The first will probably retain interest in the Colombian international, but of course Barcelona is also interested in him.
His information is that Diaz is greatly appreciated by some in Barcelona, and that they prioritize a movement for a left wing player in the summer transfer window. Romano also mentions doubts about their financial situation. Previous reports have cited an asking price of at least € 70 million for Diaz, which certainly seems to be the limit of their purchasing power, but Diaz seems to be one of their priorities.
Perhaps the most interesting part of their pursuit of a left wing player that means it means that a star must fall out of their attacking line-up. Dani Olmo was only signed last summer, while Raphinha, who could move centrally, was demonstrably the best player in Barcelona this season. Both may play like a striker, but Robert Lewandowski is also the only natural number nine option of Barcelona, although Ferran Torres looks more and more at home in the middle.
