So Surreal! Bulgarian club accidentally mourn former player who is not dead

A Bulgarian football club has apologized for holding a minute of silence for a former player who is still alive.

Arda Kardzhali, which is located in the southern Bulgarian city of Kardzhali, and plays in the top division of the country, held the minute of silence in honor of Petko Ganchev for Sunday's game against Levski Sofia.

Both teams were near the center circle before they start in the 1-1 draw and bowed their heads to mourn ganchv.

But before the game was over, Arda posted on their Facebook page and said they had received the wrong information about the death of Ganchev.

The club said: “The management of PFC Arda would like to express an enormous apology to the former Arda player Petko Ganchev and his relatives after the club received wrong information about his death.

“We wish Petko Ganchev for many years of good health and enjoy the success of Arda.”

The post seemed to have been removed on Monday evening.

It turned out that an apology was certain because they almost gave his wife a heart attack.

Later on his version of events on TV station BTV, Ganchev, 78 and still alive, said: “I miss watching Arda's competitions on television.

“This time I was about ten minutes late for the match against Levski because I had some work to do.

“While I drove home, my phone started to sound a lot, but I drove and I didn't dare answer.

“I came into the garden and my wife greeted me in tears. She said,” Petko, Petko, they have announced on TV that you have died! ” I couldn't understand what she said or what had happened. “

At least they were allowed to enjoy a decent afternoon, because Arda held Levski Sofia 26 times against a 1-1 tie, giving the southern team the fifth in the table.
