Doue arrives late for first day and Deschamps’ reaction speaks volumes

Desire Doue received an icy welcome from Didier Deschamps after the Paris Saint-Germain appeared too late for his first day with the France team in Clairefontaine.

The 19-year-old received his first call-up last week from the national team, just a few days after the winning penalty for PSG in their dramatic Champions League Last-16 victory over Liverpool.

Doue, who became a member of the Ligue 1 champions of Rennes last summer for a reported € 50 million (£ 42.6 million]this season has made 22 performances for Les Parisiens so far and scored four goals.

After such an impressive start of life under Luis Enrique, the skilled winger was rewarded with a place in the 24-man team of Didier Deschamps for their Nations League Double header against Croatia.

About his decision to give Doue a call-up, Deschamps said: “He did everything to do well with his club. He has advanced a lot, he is a young player, but he is very interesting for us.”

He added: “It is good that he can be with us of what he has done in recent months. Doue is adjustable and can play in many offensive positions.”

On Monday morning the Francee team arrived in the National Center of Football in Clairefontaine, although Doue and his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Warren Zaire-Emy arrived too late.

As a result, Didier Deschamps delivered a strict word to the pair. 'Are you at Warren? That's why you're too late? ” He said, as translated by the French football news. “There are some managers where you would leave immediately.”

Based on his facial expressions, the no-nonsense deschamps were not exactly impressed by their time preservation skills while pointing to his watch.

For example, fans responded to social media on the scenes.

It was said: “He will probably not get a call to know DESchamps until next year. Arrived late at his very first call ever.”

A second wrote: “Cameras save his ass”, while another noted: “Doue couldn't even look him in his eyes … Deschamps is a real disciplinary.”

A fourth simply added: “Discipline manager.”

Earlier this year, Deschamps announced that he will give up as France after the World Cup 2026.

Speaking with the French broadcaster TF1, he said: “I have been here since 2012, I have been planned until 2026, the next World Cup. It will stop there because it has to stop there at a given moment. In my head it is very clear.”
