Vivianne Miedema played the role of Super-SUB by scoring twice to help Manchester City with a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the first stage of their quarterfinals of Champions League.
The result also saw the incredible 31 game unbeaten run of Chelsea, while it was also the first defeat, a Sonia Bompastor since she took the lead over the blues.
City started the stronger of the two parties, where Kerolin fired the target just after a minute before Jill Roord tested a visit to goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
The side of Nick Cushing continued to insist on the opening goal without reward in the first half, whereby the interim city boss turned on his bank for inspiration during the break.
Miedema, to replace Lily Murphy during the break, immediately made an impact and placed the city in the hour.
After a teasing angle, Hampton produced a wonderful salvation to give the ball on the bar, only for Miedema to hit the rebound in the roof of the net.
Chelsea did not offer much in the attacking third, but was painfully close to the leveling of the match late when Johanna Rytting Kanyd's strike rattled the bar from a tight corner, before the effort of Wieke Kaptein was pushed away by goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita.
But with two minutes left, Miedema took her second of the game with another nice finish, causing the ball to walk over her body before he placed the ball outside the grip of Hampton to seal an impressive triumph on the first legs.
It lets Chelsea do work with next week on Stamford Bridge, while they continue their search to win four trophies this season.

Data debrief: The streak is over
On the way to the game on Wednesday, Chelsea knew that avoiding defeat would set a new record for the longest undefeated series by a Super League team for women in all competitions, but they were comfortable the second best against City in the meeting.
Although it only ended with the match with an expected goals (XG) from 0.94 to Chelsea's 1.08, the citizens saw in possession insured and limited their opponents to very few, something that Bompastor has to navigate in its term of office so far.
But City was helped by the introduction of Miedema, who screamed the game at the neck to drag her side to victory. She ended the match with team -high Totals for shots on Target (three) and touches in the opposition box (six).
Cushing also saw exactly what revenge of their competition from the League Cup, with the two parties that each won one competition while preparing for their third consecutive meeting, this time in the WSL, on Sunday.
