Feyenoord director ‘joked with star agreed transfer to City’ after UCL fightback
Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese reportedly joked that he had sold one of the club's stars to Manchester City after their key role in the Dutch team's stunning comeback on Tuesday.
Man City looked on course for a comfortable victory at the Etihad, with a goal from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan giving the home side a 3-0 lead over Feyenoord.
The Dutch side hit back impressively in the closing stages, with Anis Hadj Moussa seizing on a mistake from Josko Gvardiol to pull a goal back for the visitors in the 74th minute.
Santiago Gimenez reduced the deficit further, before David Hancko completed the comeback with a goal in the 89th minute to earn Feyenoord a point.
Hadj Moussa was named player of the match by UEFA for his crucial role in Feyenoord's battle.
According to De Telegraaf, Feyenoord director general Te Kloese took the opportunity to joke with the Algerian winger after he returned to the dressing room after receiving the award.
“Ho, ho, not in this dressing room you,” Te Kloese reportedly said when Hadj Moussa entered the Feyenoord dressing room. “You need to go to the next door.”
“But that is Manchester City's dressing room,” Hadj Moussa responded.
This led to Te Kloese joking 'Yes, I just sold you', before laughing with the winger.
Te Kloese's comment was seen by the Dutch press as a culmination of the winger's impressive rise against the Premier League champions.
Hadj Moussa came over this summer from the Belgian Patro Eisden, who had loaned him to Vitesse from February to May.
Te Kloese had reportedly agreed a deal worth £2.9 million for the winger, marking a record sale for Patro Eisden.
Hadj Moussa recently started paying back the investment after scoring in back-to-back Champions League games.
The 23-year-old has now scored four goals in thirteen games for Feyenoord this season.
Thanks to the stunning comeback against Man City, Feyenoord took the seventh point in the renewed Champions League.
The Dutch team is 20th in the rankings, which would be enough to secure a play-off spot.
Man City's troubles continued with a sixth straight match without a win, although the draw ended a run of five consecutive defeats in all competitions.
Pep Guardiola's team is fifteenth in the Champions League rankings with eight points from five games.
