Before he went to the UFC in 2020, Carlos Ulberg from Nieuw -Zeeland was not offered one, but two chances to appear in the Hit Reality television program 'The Bachelor'.
Now, while fans count down to the return of the popular light heavyweight to action on UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Brady in London – Discover why Ulberg rejected this huge TV role, as well as how he got his notorious 'Black Jag' and 'Ladies Night' nicknames.

Carlos Ulberg has rejected the place twice on 'The Bachelor: New Zealand'
In 2018, even though it was 3-0 like a professional MMA hunter, Carlos Ulberg was at a crossroads in his life; Strive fight like a full-time career or try to come as the next Top Reality TV star in New Zealand.
Well, after an appearance in the TV program 'Game of Bros', Ulberg had the opportunity to find his only true love by participating in a coming season of 'The Bachelor: New Zealand'.
Ulberg, however, was already married to the fighting game and rejected the role if 'doing the bachelor would mean that I should put myself out of the training for a few months.
“It's just not my thing and I am more focused on my fighting career,” he shared knockout from Bruno Oliveira after his first round in the Contender Series of Dana White.
“I have been a practical person all my life and I enjoy the sensation of being beaten in the face or delivering a few punches,” he later explained to Daily Mail Australia on the move.
“I love the challenge of the sport and what it gives me, satisfaction and discipline.”
While Ulberg eventually ran away from 'The Bachelor', this does not mean that he is not still not asked by fans around the world: “I understand them [marriage proposals] all the time.
“You should see my messages,” laughed the kiwi and admitted that “it is full of women … and men, [but] Yes, I always get them. '
The popular light heavyweight is currently fighting as the 'Black Jag', although it was originally announced as Carlos 'Ladies Night' Ulberg – so how did those two nicknames come about?

Now that we have an idea about his pre-PUC reputation in New Zealand, no genius is needed to find out how Ulberg was also given his first 'Ladies Night' bine name.
“I used to do women's nights in Australia, [so] I used to travel through Australia and New Zealand and almost did women's nights and strip, so I got my name 'Ladies Night' … I was a rugby player and I needed a little extra money, and I discovered that this was – more than extra money.
“I was traveling, they put me on Billboards and all that kind of things … I did that, party, I loved – I was young – until I discovered that I was good at fighting. So I gave that up quite quickly.”
The 'Black Jag' name that Ulberg is currently fighting has a more traditional origin story, which goes back to his time as a teenager.
“Well, Black Jag was something that I grew up – I love Jaguars, Black Jaguars, and I grew up with that name that the PlayStation played … Almost everything is the result of a child and having it [my] alter ego.”
Ulberg is currently 11-1 as a professional MMA hunter and 7-1 under the UFC banner.
He is confronted with former light heavyweight champion Jan Bachowicz in the Co-Main event of UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Brady on Saturday 22 March.
