Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti can or may not be in charge of next season – that will probably be determined by the results in the last two months of the season. However, the Italian believes that he knows exactly what they need this summer.
Although Ancelotti has denied ties with the Brazilian national team job, he is expected to take off his future from which trophies he will take back to the Santiago Bernabeu, just like their transfer policy. Los Blancos will probably define the future of different players and their transfer plans in May or June as soon as the season has taken place – with the exception of the Club World Cup.
This week, Ancelotti ate on Wednesday with friend and journalist Alberto Cerruti in the Spanish capital, who appeared on Cadena Ser on Thursday. The Real Madrid coach seems to have a much more difficult season than last year.
“He was in very good condition, but he is aware of the difficulties. He is not a fool. He understands that it is a difficult season, but the truth is that he is fighting. He is in the Champions League, he is fighting for La Liga, in the Copa del Rey … but he is optimistic.”
“It's a pleasure to be with him, he is the same Carlo as always. I know him 40 years since he was a football player and he has never changed.”
The conversation went in the departure of Toni Kroos last summer.
“Kroos was unique. Nobody thought he could leave football, but the German is like that; he makes a decision and does not change it. There is no other duckweed today, and perhaps there will also be none in the future.”
Cerruti further explained that Ancelotti has the feeling that Real Madrid needs two defenders and a 'good central midfielder', a conclusion drawn by many. “And we will see what will happen to Vinicius, whether he will remain or accepts the offers of Saudi Arabia,” Cerruti noted ominously.
Based on reporting this week, it seems that at least one defender has been packed, with Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold goes on a free at Real Madrid. Los Blancos is also linked to Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad as a potential recruit in midfield and Bournemouth Center-back Dean Huijsen, who have both release clausules of € 60 million.
