Mo Salah makes his preference clear with Liverpool and Saudi offers on the table

Liverpool is stuck to hope that Mohamed Salah could agree with the club, despite the Egyptian on his way to a free transfer if things stand, with the Saudi Pro League that is interested in signing the attacker

Mohamed Salah gives a priority to Liverpool's contract offer above a move to the Saudi Pro League – despite claims that SPL officials are convinced that the Egyptian will join them this summer. Salah will become a free agent this summer after he has no new contract with Liverpool Chiefs, but there has been some optimism that he could bind his future to the club after reports of new conversations.

A report from Egypt claimed that Liverpool had reopened the negotiations with Salah's agent Remy Abbas in an attempt to save last-minute hope to keep the 32-year-old.

Salah enjoyed an incredible season for the goal for Liverpool and scored 32 times to help Arne Slot's side to go 15 points clearly at the top of the Premier League, but has repeatedly stated that he will leave the club this summer when his contract ends. The Saudi Pro League seems to be the most likely destination when it leaves, because it is one of the few places that could meet Salah's lucrative salary requirements.

A report from the Telegraph says that the SPL is sure that Salah remains interesting in signing for one of their clubs, with communication lines with officials who remain “open”.

He was strongly associated with Al-Hilal, seen with Salah as a direct replacement for Neymar after his departure in January, but the report adds the IS “Little Chance” that he will participate in the club World Cup in the United States on time.

It adds that there is a new contract offer from Liverpool that has been submitted to Salah and his representatives – and that the priority of the attacker is to hear what Liverpool has to say. But it continues to say that SPL leaders still believe that he will add to their competition this summer when his Liverpool contract has expired.

Salah is one of the three senior players who will become free agents in the summer, together with Trent Alexander -Arnold – who probably looks like Real Madrid – and Virgil van Dijk. For the Dutchman there is a growing optimism that he will bind his future to Liverpool after he had promised that there would soon be news.

Salah has won almost every trophy that has him available in Liverpool and scored 243 goals in 392 performances since he came to Roma in 2017.

When he was asked again if this season would be his last in Liverpool – after earlier emphasized there was “no update” about progress above a new deal – Salah Sky Sports told: “So far, yes. It's the last six months [of his deal].

“There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So we just have to wait and see. The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say that I was worried about the contract? Or do you just want to say that I had an unbelievable season? That is in my head.

“If I ever feel distraction, I remind myself that I want to look back and say that I had an incredible season. That's what I want to do.”
