Man United ‘eye Championship goalkeeper and Gareth Southgate’s godson’

Manchester United has reportedly set their sights on a goalkeeper of the championship to replace andre onanan.

The Red Devils have identified Preston North End goalkeeper Freddie Woodman as their potential man among the sticks.

Woodman, 28, signed permanent for Preston in 2022 and was their player of the year in his first season.

Woodman, a former World Cup winner under the 20th World Cup, is also Gareth Southgate's Peetzoon.

Despite the fact that he held 13 competitions, he has had a checkered season with countless mistakes and is out for the rest of the campaign with an ankle injury.

The sun reports that United has kept an eye on him, as well as Blackburn's Aynsley Pears, 26.

Woodman is without a contract at the end of the season.

He would give some Premier League experience of his days in Newcastle, where he appeared in the top flight four times, and has also had successful championships with Swansea and Bournemouth.

The resident of London made a name for himself at the U20S World Cup, where he was a goalkeeper of the tournament in 2017, although he has never had consistent football football.

He has also played for Hartlepool, Crawley, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen in lending tints.

United always signed Bayindir as a backup in September 2023, but he was only seven performances in two seasons.

Bayindir wounded for some time, but was used sparingly even when fit.

In the meantime there have been questions about Onana, but Ruben Amorim supported his husband in March.

“I think he has endured this (stage) in the past year,” said the head coach. “I'm not sure. There were some difficult moments.

'But this season he has done some great saves that save our team and sometimes has some problems.

'But that is normal and I think if you look through our team, you can find many players with that problem, so I think we don't perform as well as a team and sometimes some players have problems.

'People talk a lot about the second goal of Ipswich. He is waiting for the touch of (Liam) Delap. I think that is really clear, and then the ball remains the goal, so that can happen.

'We just have to support Andre, as if we support all players and prepare the next game. Forget the past and prepare the future. '
