Jamie Carragher made his opinion clear about the top five of the Premier League, at the end of May with the Pundit Backing Nottingham Forest and Newcastle to get the job done
Jamie Carragher believes that Chelsea will miss the Champions League closely while he supported them to finish outside the top five. The blues have been in and around the qualifying positions for a large part of the season, but have struggled for form in recent months.
Around Christmas, Maresca's side was spoken as outsiders for the title after compiling an impressive winning run. Since the end of December, however, they have agreed and drawn in Brentford in Brentford on Sunday.
Chelsea has made countless changes for the game, but it has not graduated and the West Londers have now won only five of their last 15 games. Carragher has claimed that the tough luminaire list could ultimately count against the blues as their Champions League continues.
Instead, he supported Nottingham Forest to stay in the qualifying places after their great year, with Newcastle and Manchester City joining them.
The Sky Sports Pundit said: “Looking at the luminaires and Newcastle have a game in hand, I think Nottingham Forest will just do it, I think Chelsea will miss because they have the most difficult luminaires.
“Newcastle will make it and I think Man City will just make it. The last four games, you would expect MAN City to win all four, even with the problems they have had this season. I think Aston Villa will just miss it.”
Chelsea still has to travel to Newcastle, Fulham and Nottingham – all teams that hope for European football for next season. Their collision on the city will be on the last day. The side of Maresca also welcomes Liverpool by Stamford Bridge, while the Reds earlier instead of finishing later.
The Chelsea boss, who was hired from Leicester in the summer, has announced that the hierarchy told him that he had to deliver Champions League football within two years and recently claimed that they are so close to the curve by being so close.
He said: “The club asked to play Champions League in two years. If we can take this club with us after a year, it will be fantastic.”
Chelsea was serial at the top table of Europe in the anniversary of Roman Abramovich, but since Todd Boehly took over the club, they have trouble reaching the top four.
