Movsar Evloev’s team shut down recent fight rumors ahead of huge UFC 314 title fight

This Saturday, Movsar Evloev is holding a very sharp eye on the UFC 314 head event between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes.

When Ilia Topuria shockingly announced that he was leaving the featherweight title, it seemed that Movsar Evloev was in an excellent position to fight for the empty title.

Nevertheless, Dana White announced that Alexander Volkanovski would take on Diego Lopes for the title, the undefeated Russian competition that is on a nine -battle profit reak in the promotion.

White is clearly not a big fan of Evloev's wrestling style and even noticed his UFC 297 victory over Arnold Allen as 'the least fun fight ever'.

The Movsar Evloev team closed recent combat rumors

Although the 31-year-old is in line to fight the winner of Volkanovski vs Lopes, rumors started to circulate earlier this week that Evloev was booked to fight Aaron Pico.

Aaron Pico became a free agent last year when he could not come to terms at a new deal with the PFL and participated in a few other big names by leaving the promotion.

The 28-year-old is generally considered one of the most promising prospects in featherweight in the world despite his start in the sport that did not go well, and UFC fans have been asking for his signing for a while.

Despite the hype surrounding the name of Pico, the rumor came as a huge shock, given the position of Evloev in the rankings of featherweight.

Earlier today, however, the Russian media -outlet Red Fury MMA claimed that the rumor fight between Evloev and Pico does not take place after Evloev's management decided to wait for the peak of Volkanovski vs Lopes this Saturday.

Apparently that would be much more logical for the Russian, especially in view of the fact that both Volkanovsky and Lopes have emphasized him as their next opponent when they win the title.

Evloev was able to see a similar path to title as Magomed Ankalaev

Although Evloev probably feels hard done by having still not received a title shot from featherweight, he can follow in the same footsteps as his countryman, Magomed Ankalaev.

Despite his impressive profit streak in light heavyweight, Ankalaev was constantly beaten for a title shot until the promotion could no longer deny him.

The Russian then finally got his title shot against Alex Pereira earlier this year and became the new king at 205LBS.
