Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli in the summer transfer window, although Manchester United has stopped their pursuit of his wage requirements
Victor Osimhen still focuses on a switch to the Premier League, despite the fact that Manchester United ends their interest in him. Osimhen is free to leave Napoli in the summer and have spent the season on loan in Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old has retained his reputation as one of Europe's best strikers. This season, the Nigeriaan scored 28 goals in 32 games for the Turkish Giants Gala and they are well on their way to win the Super Lig title.
Osimhen previously shot Napoli on the Serie A title in 2023. But the relationships between him and the Italian side have been demolished and they want to sell him in the coming transfer window.
Although Gala may like him, it is not considered an option to buy a clause in their loan agreement. Napoli hopes to bring a reimbursement of approximately £ 55.5 million before rush.
Van Osimhen is expected to require approximately £ 9 million a year to pay wages, far beyond what United is willing to pay. Instead, the Red Devils now give priority to a movement for Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
Although United has stopped their pursuit, ESPN reports that Osmihen is still focusing on a switch to the Premier League. The striker would prefer playing in England or join Napoli's Serie A Rivals Juventus.
Together with United, Chelsea and Arsenal are both linked to movements for Osimhen. All three have made signing a striker a top priority for the summer transfer window.
Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko are also goals, making Juve a more likely destination. Osimhen himself remains uncertain about his future and insists that he would like to enjoy the season before he discusses it.
“At the moment I don't know. Until a few months ago, nobody would even have thought of Galatasaray, and many even thought I would leave in January. I personally live for the time being,” he said recently.
“I don't know what will happen in the summer, but I can say that I am in love with these fans. I love this club, the president, the staff – I love everyone associated with Galatasaray. For me it is really a privilege to be here, and I enjoy this experience.”
Galatasaray Vice -President Abdullah Kavukcu believes that Osimhen will announce his decision this month at a certain moment. He insisted that the gala stayed on to bring him back permanently, but admitted that they might be outgunned.
“Osimhen will announce his decision in April. At the moment, five of the top clubs of the world are interested in him. His arrival here was a dream – he came and for now he is playing with us. In January there was a transfer, but he remained,” he told Sport Mediaset in March.
“He loves Galatasaray a lot. At the moment he is the dream of all our rivals. Although we focused on winning the title, we have not yet had direct discussions with Victor. It makes no sense to talk about it now. Galatasaray is a club at the highest level – if it wasn't, Victor would not be in the Galatasaray.”
