BBC presenter claims he was chased around Old Trafford after wearing wrong shirt
BBC Radio Manchester reporter Gaz Drinkwater has claimed he was chased around Old Trafford by masked echoers.
Drinkwater explained on social media how his clothing mishap led to him running away from a group of Feyenoord fans.
The BBC presenter and commentator went jogging in Manchester yesterday wearing an Ajax shirt.
Unfortunately for him, Ajax's biggest rival Feyenoord was in town to take on Man City in the Champions League.
That meant his leisurely jog quickly led to him being chased by a number of disgruntled Feyenoord fans who were less than impressed with his attire.
On social media, Drinkwater wrote: “I'm not sure I picked the right clothes for today's 10K run…
“Nothing will push you towards your PB like a bunch of masked Feyenoord ultras chasing you around Old Trafford”.
His followers and fellow football fans reacted to the unfortunate mistake.
One wrote: “That's one way to beat your personal best, I guess.”
While another said: “Dutch fans are crazy!”
A third joked: “Wait… you may have come up with a genius way to give yourself a lot more motivation or scare yourself.”
And a fourth said: “Umm this sounds NUTS hahah”.
Feyenoord had a successful visit to Manchester and made a sensational comeback to take a point from the game against Man City.
The Dutch side trailed 3–0 before scoring three times in the final 16 minutes of the match to draw the match.
Manchester United return to Europe tonight to take on Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. It will be new boss Ruben Amorim's first game in charge at Old Trafford.
