Rio Ferdinand has mentioned four players who Ruben Amorim has to sign this summer.
The former Center-Back of Manchester United has identified the problem positions that he believes that Amorim should be tackled.
The Red Devils grow away in the lower half of the Premier League table – currently 13th – 15 points on drift of the top four.
On Thursday, United will face Olympique Lyon in their crucial Europa League quarter in France in France, with Europe's secondary competition Amorim's only chance of silverware in his first term at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese have supervised a radical shift in formation since he took over the reins of Erik ten Hag, who went from the 4-2-3-1 form of the Dutchman to his own 3-4-2-1 system that earned him abundant admirers at Sporting Lisbon.
He was carefully supported in the transfer market of January, in which Patrick Dorgu from Lecce arrived to tackle the injury crisis at the left wing, while Ayden Heaven joined Arsenal to add young people to the central defendant ranks.
Ferdinand, speaking on his Rio Ferdinand Presents -, however, believes that there are four players who can start to turn the tide at Old Trafford and United on a positive process.
The six-time Premier League winner said: “I agree with Gary Neville that they need five players, I think they need four or five players, but they will be limited by [Profit and Sustainability Rules].
'I want a midfielder to play next to each other [Manuel] Ugarte; That player must be able to take the ball with them and transfer it to Bruno [Fernandes] And the strikers. And do you know who I would go for? Adam Wharton. “
The 21-year-old Wharton is currently in Crystal Palace and arrived from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024 for £ 22.5 million, with his performances so good that he forced his way to the Euro 2024 team of England.
The scoring of goals seems to be the biggest problem of United, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, both struggling to wear the striking burden.
As such, Ferdinand has his eyes on a striker that tears this term the Turkish Super Lig.
Ferdinand said: “We need it [Victor] Osimhen “.
“We need experience. We need someone who knows how to score. We need someone who can show these young strikers at Man United how to do it.
“When I am a man, I let it happen. I want someone who knows at an elite level at an elite level and knows how to score consistently at the elite level. Osimhen did that.”
Osimhen, the 26-year-old Nigerian, scored 31 times in all competitions when Napoli finished a 33-year drought for a Serie A title in 2022-23 and he reached the season 17.
However, he dropped out with the Italian side and was shipped on loan to Galatasaray, where he scored 26 goals for Turkish leaders.
Sunsport previously reported that Napoli and United could close a stunning Swap deal in which Marcus Rashford and Osimhen move in opposite directions when the Loan Agreement of Rashford at Aston Villa ends at the end of the current campaign.
Ferdinand identified Matheus Cunha as his third top goal, aimed at the uncertain future of the Brazilian at Wolves as an important reason to pursue a deal.
Ferdinand said: “Another that I was going to buy is Cunha.
“He made it clear that he wants to leave, so I would go get Cunha.”
The attacker threw his future at Molineux last month and admitted that he looked at “The Next Step”, despite taking a new four and a half year deal with the Black Country Outfit in February.
Cunha has 13 goals in 26 Premier League performances this period, and his goalscoring -talent, as well as his versatility at the front line, could make him an ideal signing for Amorim.
The last name that Ferdinand presented was a former prospect in Manchester City Academy, which has since made its name in the Bundesliga as one of the leading right wing backs of the continent.
Ferdinand added: “Do you know who I would get more? [Jeremie] Frimpong back on the right wing. ”
Frimpong, Nederland International, is currently calling for his trade in Bayer Leverkusen and has been praised as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool.
The 24-year-old has characterized 43 times in all competitions for Xabi Alonso's Bundesliga champions, on 11 assists and scored four goals.
