William takes Prince George to football match ‘in lucky clothes’ – but team lose

Prince William attracted his “lucky clothing” when he took Prince George to Paris to view Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. It looked briefly as if the favorite team of the Royal would cause a huge shock Agaist Paris Saint-Germain, only for the French champions to come from behind to win 3-1.

“I wear all my happy clothing,” William told TNT Sports before he kicks off. He said he was “pretty terrified” prior to a meeting with a PSG team that eliminated Liverpool in the previous round.

The famous Villa fans were in Dreamland in the first half. The French side dominated early, but their Premier League opponents argued before they went in front of Morgan Rogers.

Their lead did not last long, but PSG had to be at their best to draw level. Desire Doue scored the equalizer and cut inside to curl a brilliant effort in the top corner.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia placed the hosts early in the second half with what might be an even better goal, and ended a solo effort with a finish that EMI Martinez High beat at the nearby pole. And, just as Villa seemed to end with an honorable loss of 2-1, the late goal of Nuno Mendes made their task so harder.

William and George hope for a comeback for the centuries in the second stage. The PSG team is full of attacking talent and they have not lost an away game in a competition since in November.

“Massif. Destructive for Aston Villa,” said former goalkeeper Paul Robinson in England on BBC Radio 5 Live. “That third goal is huge. Paris St-Germain has been by far the better of the two teams. That is a fool.”

Prince William has spoken about his love for Aston Villa in the past. He was born less than a month after Villa won the European Cup in 1982, but the Unai Emery team will have to take a big achievement to stay alive in the successor tournament, the Champions League, this period.

“Aston Villa has always had a great history,” he said in the past, by BBC Sport. “I have friends of mine who support Aston Villa and one of the first FA Cup matches that I went to, Bolton was against Aston Villa in 2000. Unfortunately, Villa lost to Chelsea (in the final).

“It was fantastic, I was wearing all fans with my red beanie, and I was sitting with all the Brummie fans and had a great time. It was the atmosphere, the comrade and I really felt that there was something I could make contact with.”

Villa is one of the two Premier League teams that have been left in the Champions League in the quarter-final phase. The others, Arsenal, are in pole position to make progress after a 3-0 first leg win at home at Real Madrid.
