European giant emerges as competitor for forward keen on Barcelona move
Barcelona are currently exploring the transfer market to see if an option to replace Robert Lewandowski or at least rotate with him becomes available. Lille's Jonathan David is available for free in just over a month and has emerged as one of the main contenders as Barcelona scout the Canadian.
David stated earlier this month that he has been a Barcelona fan since his youth and is reportedly keen to move. The Blaugrana know he won't be the only side in line for his signature, with Christian Falk revealing on The Daily Briefing that Bayern Munich are also interested in David. Sporting director Max Eberl has high regard for the Lille striker and they want an alternative to Harry Kane if Mathys Tel continues to leave this summer.
There are few options on the market that will be cheap for Barcelona, and none make more economic sense than David. He is also likely to have resale value, but Barcelona should capitalize on his affection for the club as Bayern can likely offer more money.
