Match report

Tottenham was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in their Europa League quarterfinals first stage at home on Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

The Subvure Aussie said in the structure that Spurs critics have a talent to change “gold in c ** p” when he talks to his team's performance.

He came out of serious pressure, because he admitted that there is a 'general sentiment' in the football world that he will be fired even if he wins the Europa League.

Whether that turns out to be the case or not, can still be seen, but for now his goal is to prevent him from going in the quarter -final phase.

And he has it all to do after this up and down display, where Pedro's beautiful backheel chalk from a sizzling opener of Arsenal target white saw Hugo Ekitike.

The side of Postecoglou suffered a terrible start thanks to the early strike of Ekitike.

But although the Frenchman's finish was breathtaking, Spurs was only to blame – and specifically James Maddison – how it came about.

Midfielder Maddison had picked his pocket all too easily by Ellyes Skhiri, who squirted a ball wide to Ekitike for the Frenchman to ride the wing and row the ball in the far corner.

Ellyes for Frankfurt, hell no for traces.

Porro could also have done better to put more pressure on Ekitike who got the freedom of N17 when he attacked the goal.

The quality of the hit of the 22 -year -old in the far corner – his 20th of the season – underlined exactly why Newcastle tried to sign him twice before and why he is on Arsenal's list of pointed goals this summer.

It sent an already bouncing Frankfurt road even more clean.

And at that moment you feared shame, given the fragility of Spurs this term, which could see that Postecoglou was bounced out of the club in double fast time.

But his team responded well and continued to wait calmly and patiently for a chance to jump.

That moment came in the 26th minute and was created by two of the perpetrators for the first goal.

After Dominic Solanke had successfully stopped and a son Heung-Min Pass had loaded over the top, James Maddison picked up the ball, turned to the name rule and cut the ball back over the six-year area.

There Porro met it and it was ingeniously home with an agile rear wheel to put traces back in the draw.

The Spaniard fourth by putting the ball at top and sucking his thumb – the universal football gesture to signal a baby on the road while he paid tribute to his pregnant partner.

It was a great goal – and showed how, for all his mistakes, Postecoglou can still be the father of beautiful football when his team clicks.

His team breathed a sigh of relief, but just before the break when the ball fell to Ekitike just in the area.

But unlike his brilliant opener, his shot was not powerful enough this time to beat Guglielimo Vicario.

Spurs turned up after the break with four painful almost accident in the space of four painful minutes.

Lucas Bergvall fueled it with a 25-year stacking river who hit the bar.

Back -up goalkeeper Kaua Santos – In for the wounded Kevin Trapp – then took a stunning stop to push away a target -related son -effort.

Santos repeated the performance to deny Maddison a little later, but not before Rodrigo Bentancur had gone against the woodwork.

It was pulsating things and reminded you of what this Postecoglou side is capable of when their tails are up.

But crucial is that they did not score, but luckily the Jean -Matto Bahoya did not do with an addicted volley – moments after the fastest man in the Bundesliga was booked for a ridiculous late mistake on son.

Strangely enough, Postecoglou waited until the 79th minute to make a suboments after fans in the southern ranking had encouraged him to change things with Wet Ansters.

They were rewarded with a triple exchange while Djed Spence, Pape Matar Sarr and Mathys Tel were thrown into the action.

But in the end it made no difference when the two parties fought a draw, ready to go next week in what the last match of Postecoglou could prove to be.
