Paul Scholes has claimed that Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim does not “love” his team.
The Red Devils legend, 50, did not stop himself in his assessment of Amorim and his team after the 2-2 draw of United with Lyon in the quarterfinals of the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Man Utd was unable to benefit from Old Trafford with them for the second stage after two Andre Onana Howlers Lyon gave a level playing field for next week's return.
Baas Amorim was still satisfied with what he saw of his players and the media told that his side “did well” and “improve the game by game”.
But Scholes, who won 11 Premier League titles and two champion competitions with Man Utd, did not buy that assessment for a second – claiming that Amorim does not even believe it himself.
About TNT sports, the 66-Keer England International said: “I don't think he believes this is honest with you.
“I don't think he likes this team. I think he knows he doesn't have a great football team and I think he wants better – he needs better.
“I think you could see that with the way he is on the touchline, he always looks disappointed.
“The way he spoke there tells me that he is disappointed about what he has.
“He needs better, everyone knows that he needs better if he is going to challenge and his where Manchester wants to be United. I think it's all over the entire field”.
He added: “I don't think they have control in the middle of the field. I don't think the quality of the attacker is there.
“Look, he knows. He is not stupid, he is not going to say it, but he doesn't like this football team.”
Scholes then hinted that it could take “two or three years” before United solves and improve their problems where they are now.
Amorim has made only one signing since his arrival at the Theater of Dreams in November – the £ 25 million arrival of Full -Back Patrick Dorgu.
Man Utd will have the home advantage in the second leg of next Thursday against Lyon.
And the pressure will be on the players for a game that makes or breaks their season.
After being dumped in 13th place in the Premier League from both Domestics Cups and Waartt – winning only 10 of their 31 league matches – the Europa League is their last dice.
The next one is a visit to the high -flying Newcastle of Eddie Howe on Sunday, before the focus can then switch to the second stage of the Europa League.
