However, there are still doubts about signing a central defender this summer, and their plan was originally to move to a defender in 2026, with Saliba their favorite choice. A player who fits that account is Jonathan Tah, who no longer has a contract at the end of the season and is available for a free after decision not to renew his deal with the club.
