Arteta gives positive Havertz update after Dubai hamstring injury in Feb

Mikel Arteta strives for the injured Kai Havertz to play before the season ends in a big boost for Arsenal.

Havertz suffered a hamstring tear in February during the training camp of the warm weather of the Gunners who required surgery.

It has led the North -London club Mikel Merino to play as an improvised NO9.

In an update for fans, the German posted a video of himself on Thursday who underwent rehabilitation work in the gym.

Bukayo Saka had only returned to Fulham last week after he had also undergone surgery on his hamstring.

It was 104 days ago that Saka was injured against Crystal Palace on December 21 until he returned to Fulham on 1 April.

From the announcement of the Havertz injury, 108 days will have elapsed due to the Arsenal match against Southampton on 25 May – the last day of the Premier League season.

When demanding the similar timelines, Arteta said to Brentford before the Arsenal match: 'Every injury is not the same. The mentality of those two (Saka and Havertz) is very, very similar. Great injury history, great work ethics, desperate to play back as quickly as possible and also great medical staff to take care of him.

'So hopefully we can have him (back before the end of the season), but let's wait.

“Once you come to the final phase of that rehabilitation, you will be better when you can understand how close or far you are to take that next step.”
