Kylian Mbappe has accused PSG of giving him £ 47 million in unpaid wages, whereby his lawyers now report the Ligue 1 Giants to UEFA in the hope of seeing them banned from the Champions League
The lawyers of Kylian Mbappe have reported Paris Saint-Germain to UEFA as the row of more than £ 47 million in unpaid wages. The Ligue 1 giants can run the risk of being banned from the Champions League next season if they are held liable to pay Mbappe and then refuse.
The row stems from a claim from Mbappe that he owes £ 47 million for the last three months of his salary and the last third of a loyalty bonus. The attacker spent seven years at PSG, won Six Ligue 1 titles and became a global superstar.
Although he would otherwise be considered a club legend, since he is their record goalkeeper of all time, the relationship between PSG and their former star bitter. PSG leaders remained unhappy with the way Mbappe left the club.
The 26-year-old joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer, after he revealed last May that he would not stay in the French capital. After that announcement, Mbappe PSG accused his salary and bonus payments.
Last October, the French League (LFP) Appeals Commission confirmed a decision that PSG ordered to pay Mbappe the unpaid wages he wants. Until now, the Ligue has refused to pay 1 champions, with Mbappe's lawyers now reporting them to UEFA in the hope that the threat of exclusion from the Champions League forces the club to extend.
“This case is simple; it is an employee who has completed his employment contract to the end and whose employer refuses to pay him. In the past year we not only waited for payment,” Mbappe Delphine Verheyden's main lawyer told BFMTV.
“Two courts were confiscated to determine whether these amounts were indeed due. Twice they have convinced the club unambiguously and stated that these amounts were unambiguously owed. Our problem is that the player has still not received his payments.
“The club explains loudly that it will not make these decisions. We are dealing with a club that does not respect an employment contract, without respecting decisions that are binding for it.
“So there is no other solution than to go to the next level, that is, seize these amounts as a precautionary measure and inform UEFA. UEFA currently assesses requests for next season.
UEFA has insisted that they will wait for a final decision before they take some action. A spokesperson said: “The case is only indirectly connected to us in terms of possible payment arrears. If a definitive decision is made by the French authorities and confirms that there are indeed arrears of arrears … The club would then have to pay the arrears overdue payments on time or non -division of financial stock exchange.”
PSG has argued that when Mbappe was sidelined for the 2023/2024 season, there was an oral agreement with him who chose to give up bonuses to return to the team. And the club was hit on Mbappe for its constant claims.
An explanation was: “After having heard another fantastic story from a parallel universe, PSG does not understand why Kylian Mbappe does not bring his business to the Labor Chamber, which is the only court to arrange the dispute between him and his former club.”
Mbappe's lawyers said they will submit their case for the Labor Chamber. The legal team of the captain of the France added that they will also start an action against PSG for intimidation because of the way he was treated.
