Diego Lopes is now only a few hours from the biggest fight of his career to date, hoping to become the next UFC -Fedweight champion.
On UFC 314 on Saturday evening in Miami, Diego Lopes seems to continue his extremely impressive run in the UFC when he takes on Alexander Volkanovski for the vacant featherweight title.
Although 'The Great' Volkanovski is his opponent, Lopes collided with Yair Rodriguez during the press conference last Thursday and added a storyline to the event.
Lopes hopes Volkanovski to hand over his third loss in a row, which would certainly send the 36-year-old closer to retirement, given how the back-end of his career has disappeared.

Lopes breaks down in tears after surprise before UFC 314
Only a few hours of the biggest fight of his career to date, Lopes got a healthy surprise when he broke in tears and spoke about how much his title win would mean for his family.
At the start of his MMA career, Lopes left his family in Brazil and told them he would not return to Mexico until he could offer a better life for them.
“Like, I don't have anyone, you know?” Lopes broke into tears while he talked about his UFC 314 fight.
“I would give everything to leave the Octagon with a victory and to hug my mother and father, but I won't be able to do it,” he went on.
“Hello, my son. I hope that when you watch this video, the motivation is for you, right? May God be with you right now. And you know you are very special, I love you,” said his mother in a video sent to Lopes.
“I am grateful about how far you got, my son. For me it is success,” his father added.
“May this fight be a war, but in the end the belt will be ours. I always said that one day you would see you, fighting for the belt,” said another family member.
The healthy video continued for another minute and a half as the relatives of Lopes were far from far away from far away.
