The arrival of Hansi Flick last summer has accelerated several La Masia talents in the first team of Barcelona, but this has not been the case for Guille Fernandez, who expected many to make his debut with the senior squads this season.
Guille is one of the most talented and highly appreciated players in the La Masia setup. Despite the fact that he is only 17 years old, he has been to Barca Atletic this season and he was sometimes even recorded in Senior Matchday Squadrons for competitions in La Liga and the Champions League.
In total, Guille has been called nine times by Flick, but he still has to make his senior debut. This goes against what he was told by Barcelona last summer, with MD reporting that the young midfielder was insured to get opportunities in the first team.
Barcelona currently has a transfer of options in the position of Guille, which attacks midfield. The presence of Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Gavi and Pablo Torre means that it is unlikely that it will occur for the first team before the end of the season, and this is probably also the case for the 2025-26 campaign.
And clubs hope to take advantage of this. The report states that FC Porto looks at a summer movement for Guille, and they would try to close a deal in which Barcelona retains a buy-back clause. And the Portuguese giants are planning to give him first team opportunities if they would sign him. Moreover, interest is also shown from Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
It would be a big blow to Barcelona to lose Guille, given the potential he has. A loan movement in the summer would be logical if Flick does not count on him, although a permanent departure could be more likely.
