Arsenal defeated Real Madrid 3-0 earlier this week in the first stage of their Champions League quarterfinals, and they now hope to take one of their players during the summer transfer window.
Arsenal is said to be aimed at various players from La Liga to strengthen the Mikel Arteta team for next season. Martin Zubimendi and Nico Williams would be high on their shortlist, and as they seem to compete with Real Madrid for the real Sociedad – midfielder, they also look at a member of Carlo Ancelotti's team – that is Arda Guler.
According to reports in England (via Sport), Arsenal is preparing to make a move for Guler this summer. Although they no longer see the Turkish playmaker as a target than a will like Zubimendi and Williams, it is still said that they prepare an offer in the region of € 30-40 million.
Guler has struggled since he exchanged Fenerbahce for Real Madrid in the summer of 2023. He has only made 46 performances in recent seasons, with the vast majority of those who come as a replacement. Ancelotti does not seem to trust the 20-year-old, who did not play a part against Arsenal earlier this week, and if the Italian stays as a manager for next season, this probably means that Guler is moving.
Arsenal see Guler as similar to how Martin Odegaard was still in Real Madrid when the Norwegian playmaker was still, and they like to revitalize Guler's career as she did the 26-year-old.
It is still too seen whether Guler leaves Real Madrid in the summer, but it would be no surprise if that would happen if Ancelotti continued as the first team head coach. At the very least, a loan movement can be on the cards – if not a transfer – because it is now not clearly counting at the moment.
