Real Madrid and Manchester United target tests positive for drink driving
Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies is likely to have a big market summer, with some of Europe's top clubs following the Canadian out of contract next summer. However, the 24-year-old will not have helped his market this week after he was caught drink-driving by local police.
The Canadian left back tested positive for blood alcohol content during a breath test on Thursday evening, reports BILD (via Marca). The incident took place at 2:15am CEST, with Davies forced to change gear and his friend taking the wheel of his €216,000 Lamborghini.
Because his alcohol level was 0.6g/l and not 0.8g or more, Davies will not be charged with a criminal offence, but rather with a driving offence. His punishment will likely consist of a fine and a one-month suspension of his driver's license. He trained normally on Friday and is expected to play against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Davies has been in talks with Real Madrid for months and Los Blancos are said to be confident he will sign next summer when his contract expires. Barcelona have also shown interest, while Manchester United and Bayern Munich continue to pursue and retain him respectively.
